Hi, all. I've been experimenting with home recording for a while, and I've had a lot of fun with trial and error--well, mostly error. I'd like to add to that by learing some of the basics more systematically. Can anyone point me to a link or a book that would cover these points?
1. An introduction to arranging/mixing tracks. I.e., how to decide where to place tracks and instruments in the mix, what sounds good next to/far from what and (more importantly) why.
2. An introduction to EQ and compression.
3. An introduction to audio effects--how, when, and why to use them on individual tracks, the entire mix, etc.
I know that covers a lot of bases--but I have a lot of questions.
I also have a primordial mix in which I've been trying to get all the instruments to each sound "huge" but not step on each other. If anybody is willing to listen to it and throw me advice, that would be terrific.
Thanks!
