Anyone know the optimal placement of the mic when recording banjo?

Two county lines away from the banjo! :D :D Seriously, I use a condenser 2 feet out in front and a bit left of the player and get good results. I have also used a 57 in tight pointed at the neck for a sound which is more full. That's what works for me. Good luck, Dave.

I should have mentioned that the 57 is in addition to the condenser. (Two tracks) Sorry, DAve

Do you know what the difference is between a dead skunk in the road and a dead banjo player in the road?
Answer: there are skid marks in front of the dead skunk. :D
