Ive narrowed it down to these two for price range, sound and features. I was just wondering if the $200+ for the 4050 is worth it. you can do some fun things with omni and figure 8 patterns. but it is $200 extra.

hmm.
ive just had some good ideas about micing acoustic guitar duos with a figure 8. also blumlien i think thats how its spelled, and some group backup vocals with omni. as well as whatever else down the road i would want different patterns for.

As I understand it, the multiple patterns are the only difference. I got the 4047. Liked it better than either one.

well, i know what their differences are. the 4050 has a dual diaphragm which allows the different polar patterns. and ive played with both at mars, which isnt the best location, but i didnt care of making a fool of myself so i did do a lot with them(including turning the mic alarm on while twisting it around hehehe).
