What DAW (recording software) are you using?
It's all in the mixing. Turn everything down to start with.

If it's too loud, turn it down. If it's too quiet, turn it up.

Avoid the "suck"contour control.

Remember that music always sounds best with the snare panned hard left, the hi hat panned hard right and everything else dead down the centre.
