Does anyone know where or if I can get some balanced 1/4 to unbalanced 1/4 cables without buying a cable snake because I really dislike using chain snakes?

Um.....

For how come? I've never had problems plugging TS cables into TRS balanced ins or outs, and to have one end of a balanced cable HI Z eliminates the function of a balanced cable in the first place...

UNLESS...

You want to convert a stereo signal to mono...

Of course, you know there are what they call "line transformers" out there, I have a bunch of TRS-to-RCA and Stereo-to-mono-1/4" plug-in types...Cheap and occasionally sound....

Ok here's the deal.

Thanx for the comment.

Ok I had an old Maxi Studio Isis interface that I stopped using when I got my delta 1010. I have a young kid who I promised I would help him learn some recording basics. So I gave him a dmp3 and the maxi isis and helped him install everything and set it up. The problem he is having is that the signal stays really hot regardless of how low he has the gain set. I thought that maybe he was doing something wrong, but I got the same problem. So I tried the direct outs on a mackie onyx(I went from both the inserts and the direct outs and it didn't have the same issue). So I tried the dmp3 through my delta 1010 and on my firewire 410 with no issue. The only thing I could think of is that the output from DMP3 is balance and the inputs on Maxi Isis is unbalanced and he is using dual end TS cables. Should I try a TRS to TRS cable?

The problem dosen't seem to be in the balanced / unbalanced connection. The DMP is probably operating at +4 and the isis at -10. See if there are any hardware settings in the isis software, or maybe a switch on the DMP3. If not you'll have to get a bump box.
