forgive me, but anything you do to the room is going to affect the acoustics of the room & that will affect the mix. whether it's "good" treatment or "bad" depends on what sound your looking for. there's a pretty good book out - Using Your Portable Studio by Peter McIan. he spends several chapters discussing how sound travels and how to interupt standing waves and what types of treatments work well for good recordings. Of course I always use a few flowery throw-pillows and a rag rug & my room just brightens up the room..everything doesn't have to be that serious

Where can a guy pick up a nice rag rug on the cheap? Asking for a friend. :D
 
your "friend" can go to Goodwill - which is also where you can get the thow pillows- flowery room accents is a lost art

Hmmmm

to OP: hey dude. I posted a picture of something that came with one of my new guitars at that time and asked what it was. lo and behold, it was a string winder and I didn't know what it was. After a couple of the guys telling me what is was, then I got the treatment. But it was all in fun. Have a great time and remember, i believe we have all been given:

As a kid growing up in England in the 70s, "the treatment" was a term that struck fear and consternation into the heart of coward and brave alike.
It meant a good kicking in, a solid beating, much bruising........
