Hi, have decided to revisit this one after recently scoring a Rickenbacker 4001 Bass guitar:D...was never happy with the bass sound on the original, so I redid the Bass tracks, maybe a bit bass heavy now? Also remixed the vocals, and drums trying for a less muddy overall sound....any thoughts are much appreciated as always :D

Sounds really good to me. The only thing is that the voice is too FX heavy, which makes it sound too diffused on the mix and buried. But that's what you were looking for, so that's a matter of taste. Ah, also tame down the highs on the solo a little. Other than that, great song, great mix, great playing overall. Kudos.

Yeah, I was going for a weird vocal sound on the lead vocal...I copied a dry vocal track, reversed it , added reverb, then reversed it back to get a kinda ghostly vibe....maybe to strong? I will try it tamed down a bit...For the guitar solo, it was kinda buried in my 1st mix, so I did try and cut some low, and add a bit of high end..agree that it is a little sizzled now...
Thanks for listening and commenting...appreciate the feedback!

Hey, queepy, that Rick sounds great!
The song isn't bass heavy at all, the bass fills the bottom out nicely.
Mix sounds great to me, maybe the cymbals sound a bit harsh in the guitar solo, but really that could be my monitors. Really like the voices.
Totally cool song, well done! :D.

Joe :):)

Thanks Joe! I agree with the cymbals adding sizzle during that solo...will knock em' down a bit :p....thanks for your comments, appreciate it!

The lead vocals could come up a tad for me - but just where I hear the backups. The bass seems loud at the very beginning only... I didn't mind the cymbals on the solo but if you chekc out the last crash I can see/hear where the splashyness comes through. Cool tune, well done, solo absolutely rocks my socks off.... :D:cool::D:cool:

Will address those vocals, agree the lead vox could be a bit more out front after listening with fresh ears...thanks for the guitar solo comments, gave the whammy bar a workout! Will also tame that cymbal crash at the end..Thanks for the feedback Idol, appreciate it!

Ah, the clicky Ricky - the sound of prog!
It has that distinctive scooped tone that gives definition, fills out the bottom and doesn't battle the middle.
I like it as it is now - is that you singing? You're less buried & affected than usual - could it be you're beginning to become comfy with it.
The B vox are very Hawkwind.
Cool song.

i like the panning for the guitar plucks in the verses.

that scream after the lead solo rocks. it's like your getting sucked into a cave.

what guitar effects are being used during that guitar solo if you don't mind me asking?

i really like it! cool stuff

Some quick comments:

The verse part is strong, sparse and powerful. I have no problems with the mix in these parts of the song.

Throughout the track the kit slotted in nicely. I had no problems with cymbals (and I wonder whether I might be hearing an updated version). Likewise, I enjoyed having the vocals fairly strong in the mix . . . they lend that extra bit of energy when pushed up a bit.

Normally I am not a huge fan of effects, but they suit this track: the effects on the vocals, the panning on the plucks that Greyharmonix noted.

Overall it's a great punchy track!

But . . .

two things I wondered about. The chorus 'bad ronald' done by the backing vocals . . . the notes used were E D E, and for some reason they seemed to sit strangely for me. I wonder what the underlying chords were (I only tried half-heartedly to figure them out), and whether there might be alternatives that might sit better.

The lead playing was great, but here was a case where I thought the effects were not adding a lot, and I wonder what a more direct, un-effected guitar might sound like here.

Other than that . . . great!

Yeah, I'm really digging the Ric man, pretty big step up from the Peavy T-40 I was using before ;). Why yes, that is me singing :p...one of my more confident attempts fer sure :o! Thanks for listening!

Hey man, thanks for the comments....I can't lie...that scream came from a sample cd of horror sounds...I tried to do it myself, and was just lacking sufficient terror in ,y scream :p....As for the solo...I used a "Classic Chorus" plugin , and that's about it...a lot of Whammy bar wanging :D..the guitar was a Fender Strat + with lace sensors and a Floyd Rose....

Hi geckozzed, thanks for the great feedback! In regards to the chords on the chorus..the build up is A ,B , C..with the chorus being E>C>B>A>G...the vocal may seem strange as I just try and fit in key with my vocals...I have no idea what notes I'm singing, just kinda go by feel....as far as the guitar solo...it pretty much has a touch of chorus and delay, that's about it...I have not remixed this since posting...hopefully will work on it today...going to try the guitar solo tracks raw and see how that works...
Thanks again for listening and commenting...appreciate it!

That was a ton of fun! I remember this one from maybe a year ago or so? Hard to compare over so much time, but it sounds great. The bass sounds nice and I agree with at least one other that your vocals are more clear on this one than many of your originals. I love the background vocals on the chorus and the lyrics are funny in a good way. Don't really have any advice...sorry :o.

Yeah I remember this one. There seems to be a lot less effects on these vocals than what I recall from last time, they're much better. All your tunes seem to have this kind of irreverent 'who cares' attitude that I think is great, but at the same time they're carefully crafted and would stand scrutiny in any company. I really like overall sound you've got on this- a blend of your vocal with the guitar and bass tones. Nice job - this is one of your good ones

Thanks HM! Yeah, the vocals are way drier then the original....I think I am going to raise the lead vox just a bit today when I work on it today..glad ya dug it!

Hi Bulls Hit, yup, I'm glad it comes across I don't take myself to seriously :p...I used to get so uptight about criticism, I couldn't really create anything without worrying about what others thought..now, I just let er' rip, and try to improve on whatever I can to the best of my ability...It sure is a lot funner that way ;)! Thanks for the kind words...greatly appreciate it!

Ok guys, one last mix before this one goes back in the walls :p...I tried to kick the lead vocals up front just a little more and took away what little reverb was on them...also did a little more work on the lead guitar level, it seemed to "jump"out a little to much when it 1st kicked in....
Here is a link to the new mix ( link at the top also plays the newest mix), if anyone wants to sit thru it again, and thanks for all the feedback and comments, they really help!
