Ive replaced ram in laptops and towers quite a few times but yesterday was the first time I ever had a bad stick.(laptop) Scared the shit out of me , after booting up just a black screen and weird beeps, I thought I may have shorted something out even though I had my static thingy on.

Anyway the memory was Gskill, the replacement is on its way but does anyone have an opinion about this brand??

The laptop is running fine with the old ram back in.

And yes, it was the correct kind.

It does happen, be glad it was all bad. Most of the time it is a bad sector and then you have to chase the problem. I don't know the brand, I usually try and stay with known names, but that is not a guarantee.

Well it was 2 8gb sticks , one may have been good but I sent both back since they came together and I didn't want to mess with it. Hopefully the replacements will be ok!

GSkill is a well-known high spec gaming RAM brand. They are also known as being quite solid. It's not cheap either, that's for sure. Was probably just a freak malfunction.

It happens.

Cheers :)
