hey Mike.

1st its a bit hard to hear the true song due to the lack of quality because of the format it is in.

2nd. As far as I can tell the instruments sound really great. The guitar sounds really nice. The drums really sound superb. The snare is perfect IMO. Beginning to wonder if they are real. I really wish the vocals could have been better because I can hear what it would sound like with a nice vocal track.

Some newbie suggestions on vox:

super super dry... add a bit of verb.
a bit too close in the mix for me. Try backing them down just a bit.
I would try a condensor mic for these vocals. sound like a dynamic mic.
It also sounds like the singer is holding back... which can work if it is mixed and engineered properly.

overall pretty good job. just get on those vox and I think you will have a nice mix!

Thanks rudalicious!

I'm not real pleased with those vocals. Guess I just need to rework those.
Think I'm going to work on my EQ and reverb techniques. I'm really lost there.
Any suggestions on where to start?(Web sites, books, etc.)
It's gettin' there.

well a good rule of thumb for reverb is... generally you hsould barely hear it if at all when everything is playing. Solod of course you will hear it. As for EQ searchign around this site for EQing vocals should give you some more info. In your particular case you want to open it up and make it more recorded sounding. Drop off some of the lows and add some highs. Maybe some mids. Use your ears and see what tickles you fancy. A better mic would most liekly help the most, however.

Good luck. Hit us up with your result!
