back to the bluetube - is your noise as bad as mine??

hey everyone.
i just got a presonus blue tube and blue max combo thingy off ebay.. aka, both of them, with a rack connector.

anyway, i finally got around to trying the bluetube. Is everyone else's extremely noisey?? I'm talking, a cloud of fuzz as more you turnup the gain. It's almost expoential, and it's incredibly loud, I think. Not to mention, if I use the tube at all this increases incredibely too.

The tube noise I could understand - it's a cheap tube...but from JUST the pre??? there is no reason for it to be THIS noisey is there? possibly I got sold a messed up unit? Is there a way for me to open this bad boy up and clean the knobs or soemthing?

man...i'm pissed. ha.

The blue tubes I feel....kinda...suck.

Ill bet you got a bad one mine wasnt noisy but the tube was replaced with a good one when I scored some mullards.

anyone know if i can clean it out somehow by myself? Spray some grease in the knobs or something?! haha!

I had one, but I gave up on it. Hiss city. And I LIKE presonus gear; use Digimaxes, had an MP20... But that blue tube thing was a dog. Way noisier than a "tube MP," if we're talking cheapo "toob" gear - Tube MP is definitely quieter. Bottom line, couldn't sell that blue tube thing fast enough. Yuck.

Blue Max is pretty great, though.

All flaming aside, you have a lemon. The pre (alone) is clean in the ones I have used. Return it and get a DMP3.

Mine isn't too noisy unless you crank it too high with the tube drive. It is much "noisier" than a Sytek though.

Well...I have to turn mine on and leave it for like an hour before I record anything with it. But it is still a piece of junk.

You can't sell it if it's bad, you just bought it didn't you? Add something in the add like "tested and worked good 10 years ago, can't verify if it's working now" and your covered. Or better yet be up front about the problem and list as needs fixing and you would be suprised on the number of people looking for broken junk...
