Sounds like you TOTALLY screwed up the noise-shaping.

that's an unfunny inside joke for dobro - I'll be back in a few

Nice, clean recording. For once, it doesn't sound dryer than West Texas.

Nice trumpet...LOL.

so...how come you don't play a dobro too?:D

This is a pretty fun sounding song. I wonder how wild it would be if your 'tuba bass farts' panned L/R with each note. Since you use organic sounds, it'd be nice to hear one for the high hat too. Ditch the casio sound.

hard to frown listening to your stuff.

your singing fits the style/mood perfectly.
I'd think there would be great reception from the masses for this kind of stuff...
after listening to the song, I felt the panning was weird and might try something a little more conventional, sad to say:( . But, your instrumentation, admittedly makes it hard to make decisions.

clean sounding too. just a "pinch" of hiss, but certainly acceptable.

way to go, trumpet lips!!

oh yeah...you got 5 stars happenin' ...just some of the lights are burned out in some of the stars.

dang..I think I about tapped my foot off!!

oh yeah...I thought it sounded "triangulated" :D :D :D
THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT!!!

hehehehehee ... Dobro, tell mix why he's off his rocker.

ok...after listening to this 47 times, I have a couple [more]suggestions. The opening 'tuba' line...I'd maybe come up with a related melody line, arpeggio, rather than just the same note...or something other...like a filter sweep. Something to keep it FROM sounding like a count off. Also, I think the noise reduction in cooledit is VERY good, and I'd consider trying to "clean up" some of your tracks in a very sparingly way. Or even manually edit/gate COMPLETE silence in your tracks in the non playing areas, if you haven't already. This last suggestion [noise reduction] will probably get my shit jumped for suggesting that, but since your stuff is not appearing to try and accurately reproduce specific instrument sounds, but instead just going with what sounds good, I think the idea is acceptable. But go EASY. I use it all the time, and find that a gentle hand omits all the chirpy/swirling side affects. I think it is one of CoolEdits hidden secrets, actually. And...thinking about it, I think the alternate panning on the tuba may not actually be all that distracting. On the trumpet lead...pan the sucker across the stage as it plays. Really separate those Bg humming vocals too. Also, a very UNnoticeable small room reverb on the lead vocals would be nice...and a spill over verb..again, NOT obvious, on the breaks would be nice too...especially over a edited silence.
Going to harp on the HH again. This is the ONLY item that makes it sound kinda "home recorded" to me...hence the slight dislike of it.. But it does kinda fit in its own cheesy kinda way. And...also, the humming Bg vocals in some spots(like around the 1 min mark) sound a little out of tune. Ok, I suppose, but since you have $50,000 left in your recording budget, I'd get 'em purrrfect!
Man..I think I'd buy an album of this in a heartbeat. I really like this.

Funny..........you don't sound Singaporean.

Very cool.....I especially like the mouth solo. And then the nice section after that....you could put some strings over that. Reminds me of some very early Steve Miller during that section.

Just pushed up the rating a bit. It deserves more than 1 star

I just applied a "hardwood med size room" reverb, and a larger "hall" reverb over the entire mix... VERY lightly, and it seemd to breathe a little "air" into this mix. If I remember, you are the reverb henchman, but using it for "ambience" rather than a noticeable effect/sound, I think it worked wonders.

oh yeah..so that made it the 48th listen!

Definately an exceptional tune (why DON"T you play a dobro?). I love the trumpet solo/scat thing. Good job on everything.
I tried the same little experiment, Mix. I converted it to a 24 bit wav and put a couple of different subtle reverbs (not at the same time). I'm not sure it's any better, just different.

I'll give it 5 stars and I havent even heard it yet.

I think we're closing in on the One Star bandit!(or banditS)

i'm guessing a certain 'tricycle riding' member who doesn't like discussing the bible very much rated this one star(i'm never going back to the cave but if you're still interested in chatting on that subject pm me). i give you 5 dobro! god, i love your music.

this sounds as good as everything else i've heard from you. extremely quiet recording (i mean no noise), perfect vocal recording, metronomic guitar, mouth trumpet, i love it all.

hey, have you heard of antares kantos? not that you would be into it or anything, but i think you could find out what that trumpet line would sound like in a whole bunch of different textures.....if'n your interested in that....i don't work for them.

the only complaint i have is your choice of percussion. that's just preference though. i'd love to hear your music with some real hand percussion and such some day.

btw, i still listen to mineral regularly.

Very good tune Dobro. The recording is as clean as a whistle as always and I actually like everything about this one.Vocals are excellent and "unique" as always.Mouth trumpet solo worked really well and the guitars sound especially nice.

2 questions.

What kind of guitar are you using?

What kind of Mic(and pre if that applies) are you using to record your guitar and vocal?

Thanks,
Kramer

shit, I write a 10 page thesis on using noise reduction, and the next 84 posters comment on how clean the recording is. Also, NO reverb. I need a hug!!:(

*hug*

I need sleep. I'll sort all this stuff out tomorrow. Thanks for listening you guys.

This song made my night.Mouth trumpet...I am speechless...GREAT recording!
