HI All.
I like the stuff I'm hearing here. Sorry I haven't been around to listen much. I had a very close old friend pass away Memorial weekend. He was 31, an excellent drummer (national), and a musical partner and friend for years. He was also number 13 of greater Portland, Maine's 17 drug overdoses in the last 5 months. I don't know what's happening to us all.

But moving on...

I'm planning to post some acoustic songs soon, but I was hoping to get some feedback on a remix while I work on them. I've been learning my way around my gear a bit, and think I've got some of my songs a little closer to the way I envisioned them. This one has been totally remixed with Korg Triton drum samples (Standard kit) mapped through a Sonar midi interface.

sorry to hear the news, I know how that deal is...

The tune sounds very good. It's like a tune and a half...I'm glad you did it 256.. I cant really think of anything to change because I like the mix and the tune. lots of cool textures.. anything I would complain about would be personal preference...the lead around 4:45 may have crakled a bit when it came in, but that's probably my tired monitors....and I had it up at a respectable volume....

nice mood to this tune, and the mix sounds good to me.

high marks for originality. A very good mix, and nice sounds too. I dig the guitar sounds your getting. Very trippy stuff. At the beginning I thought I was having a flashback, but then I realized I was just waking up in your dream. Very trippy. I like it.

Twist

Maybe I'm crazy but during the less up beat vocal parts, try singing an octave up, even if it's falsetto, and distort it like mad. Maybe I've listened to too much Muse recently...

What are you using on your guitars? They sound amazing.

Good to hear you like the guitar sound. That's my main concern going forward. Most of what I did with the guitars is EQ. Little chorus on the Paul Reed Smith lead at the end. I got a pretty neat sound on a lead in "Townie" too. But I'm really trying to get good acoustic sounds. All I have is a SM57 and 58.

Sam/Sabb- Thanks for your comments as well. That "crackling" is probably not your speakers. I pushed some highs on that track, and that first note is just a casualty of EQ war.

Cool. Makes me wanna just go setup 2 57s in xy and go. In fact, I think I will right now and see what I get.

SLuiCe, I must say that this is one of the best songs I've heard in a while. Hands down. The intro was stellar and what followed was a real pleasure to listen to.
Maybe it is my end of things but, I thought the electric rhythm git was overbearing and the vocals could use more clarity. I was hoping you'd play around with the exit as much as you did the intro but, I really loved this tune. My proclivities of mix opinion aside, this song rocks. It is original, full, dynamic and right up my alley. I can't write/produce like this but, i wish I could.

I'll earmark this as a personal goal to truely get out what is in my sickened head. Nice recording.

Theron.

I wasn't expecting anything that came up in this composition, and I like that. Nice recording chops too....not to mention your performances.

this is a very nice piece from beginning to end, in all aspects.

THe muscicmanship is great, and the mix sounds pro.

Great job.

Again, your stuff reminds me like some of the music from the game "The Secret of Monkey Island", which should be a compliment. At least the beginning did that for me. Then it started to groove nicely. The hi-hats sound a little too loud in the "Away from the city" chorus parts, but I'm really nitpicking. You have your distinctive mood and I can recognise your stuff. You've really made your style work. All kinds of nice textures in the song add to the good composition. I've really enjoyed all your songs so far, and I like your style. You're starting to be my favourite composer here alongside Samicide (oops, sorry Sam, don't get TOO much ego boost here, since when you get TOO confident on your abilities, you may start to go downhill :D (joking) )

Your comments all mean a lot to me. I'm familiar with most of y'all's work and it's excellent, so your words are encouraging. Maybe my ears are starting to get the hang of this stuff.

One thing I learned from my friend with sparkling clarity is we all must make more time for music.

Well except Sam. He needs to get a job.

I liked this alot-very original arrangement-with abrupt tempo changes but you manage to keep it natural sounding. Tasty guitar playing too. Nice to hear someone who can write good tunes and play well and with an ear for production. Salute<S>

Very unique sound you have. the only thing I can add is that I thought the verse came in too hard.

Sorry to hear about your friend.
