after trying to burn a CD for the 3rd time on my new aw4416 noticed that the cdrw drive kind of freezes when it gets to 100% complete and 00:00:00 time remaining,i tried different CDs and it does the same. i'll be more specific: it starts writing and when it gets to 100% complete it does not open the tray as it's supposed to do when i press DISC AT ONCE.and none of the other buttons work. another thing the hard drive does is it makes clicking sounds whenever it's writing a CD.
thanks for any help.

This isn't especially helpful, technically speaking, but I saw almost the exact same question posted somewhere on the web on a different site along with some replies... but I can't remember where. If I find it I'll come back here and post the link. But in the meantime I suggest you just go straight to the Yamaha folks and have them walk you through the problem. Otherwise, try some various searches on Google or HotBot and you might stumble across it. But I have definitely seen this before.

Yo Marcos:

Since I use the Yam 2816 and since they operate similarly, here are a few suggestions.

1. Have you defragged your box? If not, do so. It's easy. Just follow the steps in the manual.

2. Do you go to "utilities" and select that you want to "test write" before burning the CDR or CDRW?

This might solve your problem.

3. I assume you are making a stereo track first and then, after tweaking, you "save" the stereo track and select that track from the CD list when you select the CD button?

When I finish burning a CD on my 2816, the CD door opens and a prompt comes up asking me if I want to "burn it again...." and then a prompt asks if I want to "finalize." Well, I'm sure you know that if you "finalize" you're done with that disc. So, I select "NO" and continue burning tunes which have been mixed down in the stereo track.

If none of this helps, then you need to contact the Yam techie and explain your problem; however, I suspect that you are missing a needed step somewhere along the CD burning set up.

Good luck.

There are two AW4416 message boards here:

http://socialentropy.com/aw4416/

and here:

http://www.aw4416user.info/

that may be able to give you an answer - I've got the machine but don't know what the problem is, I'm afraid.

Try the second board first - there's a guy by the name of Wink that seems able to sort out most problems with AW4416.

Good luck
