i've been thinking about getting the isolation pads myself.

i've got primacoustic foam on my walls, and i heard a definite improvement in the sound of the room

HOWEVER,

when i have my amp on the ground, the carpet muffles the amp, so i always put my amp up on my old wooden school chair. i don't know if having it off the ground is what makes it sound better, or getting it off the carpet.

i'm gonna get it anyway, they aren't expensive, if i don't like it i'll sell it on ebay.

I just use the foam that comes with a new harddrive and just place my speakers on top of that, it cuts down on the sound of my desk being brodcast around the studio.

If you get too thick or too soft a foam under monitors, one school of thought is that it will cause phasing problems due to the speaker rocking from low notes, causing the distances from woof/tweet vs. ear to change - this would be worse at close distances, since the ratio of rocking distance to ear distance would be greater.

I don't think I've ever heard this in person, but then I've only used 1/4" firm neoprene under my KRK's, JBL's or Tannoys... Steve
