Auditioning a drum machine

if that`s the case then the answers evident.

If you have skills as a drummer then it would be retarded to even go that route of coarse and a daughter`s tuition for college and a mortgage car payments ect... is very good reason to buy a cheaper peice of equipment but I`m sure your aware that with everything in life comes sacrafice,what you think I don`t have a car payment a mortgage?Yes I`m a normal bill paying guy just like you but if you really want that sound cause you want a shot at doing this professionally then make the sacrafice and do it,now I guess we will get into if your physically challenged then you should buy a cheaper peice of gear huh?
 
To each his own! I have had absolutely no complaints whatsoever with my drum tracks! (Wellll, 1 song did have this OVER-POWERING Outta'-Space snare sound!)

...................further more, the MPC are EXCELLENT in the rap & r&B
genre's but serve no use in more complex rhytms that are required in Jazz. My brother owns an MPC and could not replicate a syncopated kik-snare hi-hat rhythm, nor did the machine impress any-1 in 3/4 or 5/4 times.
Like I SAID b-4, you don;t have to spend 2-3k on a drum machine to acheive the sound you want!!! 1 of the many Roland/Boss or Alesis machinesserve the purpose of providing ample rhythm!
Again, for that kinda' money buy your own drumset and learn to play. You'll sound WAYYYY better than a MPC!

WHAT?It can`t do more complex drum rhythms? Ever heard that saying it`s not the guitar it`s the player? Well you can basically apply it to this situation.You can set the MPC series drum machines to Hi Res which means you play it and get exactly what you played without quantization.So if your brother was able to play the drum rhythm than that`s what he would have got.Not for nothin but are you actually serious?You can get quality drum tracks from these cheap ass machines youv`e mentioned?Well then your about to change the game huh?Could you name 1 song that`s been in the top 40 that the drum tracks were made by either one of those peices of shit youv`e mentioned?I`m waiting for this one.:confused:

I said top 40!And by your response I see that you can`t name anything.And if your brother comes out with them wack ass boss sounds his album will go as far as your post!And I havn`t forgoten that this is homerecording.com but should that stop anyone from trying to make quality music.Simple and plain I`ve used the Boss sp-202 dr-5 and that 770 one and I have never said there not good machines they just put out poor quality sounds.Even if you have them mastered by the best they still sound cheap!period!Now if you wanna argue that than you obviously don`t know what your talking about!So let me ask you something?If their so good than why doesn`t DJ Premeire use one?Or why doesn`t DR Dre use one?Know what they use?That`s right MPC`s.......2000,3000,60.I don`t even own one I work with an SP-1200 and a Triton along with effects processors and pre amp`s and digital recorders.What I`m saying is the sound for say Hip-Hop has been defined ,doesn`t seem fair but it has so if your not using what the boys pumpin out hits is using than your just pissin in the wind!Anyway have a pleasant day:)
 
sleep, you are obviously a retard. Everybody knows that I have a top 40 hit, and I did the drums with a casio keyboard and a boss DR-550mkII. If it was just the DR-550, my cut wouldn't have gotten the spins that it did, but since it is an mkII, my track just oozed the groove. That drum sound was so choice, it made me slap my momma. You are the one that don't know what youaretalkinabout.

In response to krakit's original question: Most drum machines have a demo song or two programmed into them. They usually cover all of the sounds available in the machine. If you go into a store and mess with the machines, you probably can figure out how to get the demos to play. If not, just ask a salesperson to help out.

As far as the multiple output vs. 2 output: I see the advantages of the multiple outs, but I have gotten along fine with the DR770 that has the stereo outs and the one individual out. Each drum sound can be tweaked and panned in the stereo field how you want it, and I feel that with enough parameter tweaking, you can eliminate the need for multiple outs. And I think the sounds are quite competetive with a little outboard processing.

of which 4, the MPC is used. the remaining 8.... a LIVE drummer
with back-up band!!! It ain't my brand of music but I support him

'Cause ANY musician will tell you that live drums are the best any way!
