G'day,
First let me say I had a real dillema working out which section this should have gone in so appologies in advance if i've posted it in the wrong spot.....
Anyways, I've been using Audition 2.0 for a while now and find it really user friendly etc....Recently i've started using cubase however i find it alot less 'user friendly' and alot more complicated etc......
My question is; soon i'm going to be recording my solo EP, will spending hours trying to get the hang of cubase (yes i've tried reading the manuals etc :( )mean i'll yield results sound quality wise that are much better than using Audition which i'm more than comfortable with?
Also in audition I'm sure there was a thread ages ago with little shortcuts etc I tried searching for it without any luck, anyways was after a shortcut key that can be pressed so that you can see the incoming sound levels down the bottom without having to be recording?

Thankyou so much in advance, cheers,
Matt

I’ll try to answer even I am not guite sure I understood questions 100%
1)
First I don’t think that you’ll get better sound quality unless you upgrade hardware or recording room.
Software can edit and mix it but recording quality is depending of sound card, gear etc…
You can always record it by using one software and use another software for editing / mixing.
I think many people do that.

2)
AA 2,0 has two types of monitoring and several ways of signal mettering.
Have you tried to change those?
Options/Monitoring Options/Mettering ….

Still I don’t know if it ever monitor your imput signal without pressing REC button first.
Could it be the solution for you?
You just need to trigger one track for recording and mettering will start to jump.

I use Cubase too and I know that you don’t need to trigger track for recording to do the same. It’s always on.
Anyway, I use Cubase for midi only. AA is my main software.
I’ll check up this monitoring issue later
See you!

No, I don't believe it. "Much better" sound? Nah, no way. Cubase and Audition will both produce good sound with no appreciable difference between them.

If you want better sound, buy better mics and learn how to use them; sound treat your room, especially for mixing; buy better mixing gear.

G'Day oz_fenda!!!
Be assured mate, that as dobro and others have suggested, you will hear no 'actual' difference in sound quality between any quality software. ie. the two you have suggested.

Although both programs are very flexible, they seem to be each suited to particular artist's applications, ie. MIDI for one, total ease of use for the other...etc etc.

Now if your going into the 'high pressure zone' of recording your own great music, you'll want a friend with you....and that friend is the one you already know very well.
....go with what you know in this case, so you can concentrate more on THE MUSIC, and getting that right!! ;)

PS..I'm in Melbourne, where you at?

Kindest Regards,
Superspit.
