I visited this site last night looking for this stuff: Audioseal Sound Barrier .
My problem stems from the fact the the vent running from the HVAC system that runs into my room is shared with the living room above. It is a 12" round duct and the living room sits directly on top of it after it turns 90 degrees in my room.
I get a lot of noise from upstairs and I'm wondering if I wrap this duct with this barrier if it will actually improve the dampening of sound traveling down this duct. My vent outlet is only about two feet from where this opens into the living room, so during any live miking I would have to cover the vent with a sealed enclosure treated with this stuff as well.
I guess my question is would I be wasting my money treating this duct and vent, or should I just wait until no one is at home to record?
Even when I'm not recording I wouldn't mind having the peace and quiet.
