Audiophile 2496 compatibility with a laptop computer?

I ordered the Audiophile 2496 soundcard for a pc, but just got home to find out that my pops sold the computer. However, I can still use my girlfriend's laptop. Is the 2496 compatible with a laptop? I don't want to open it to find out or I won't be able to return it (I ordered it from Musician's Friend). My laptop is a toshiba satellite with an Intel Celeron processor, lots of RAM, but it does not have a direct line-in, only a mic-in.
Please help!

the PCI audiophile sound card wont work on laptops.....did you buy the pci soundcard or the usb? the usb would work on a laptop. if my dad sold my computer, he'd get an elbow drop of the corner bed post. thats the kind of offense where i take off my glove and smack him with it.
 
haha. I bought the pci soundcard. what is it about it that makes it incompatibile with a laptop?
 
the laptop doesnt come with PCI slots and i dont think there is a PCI slot connector either. all you have to do now is inform your dad that his favorite arm chair is in a "safe place" until you get a new computer or the old one is returned.
