Just bought an Audiophile 192 soundcard. This is the first separate card I've had. Up to now I've used the built in system on the computer. i.e. the one integrated on the motherboard. As a relative newbie I thought all cards had a built in synth. Now I've discovered that the 192 has none and having disabled my previous sound source I've lost the GM which I used to use a lot.
Another thing - with the old system I could quickly connect the audio output to the input internally so I could bounce midi tracks to audio. Now I can't see a way of doing it unless I connect them physically via the hardware mixer.
I'm beginning to think I've lost more than I've gained.
Any guidance would be much appreciated.
