I just bought an Audiogram6 for use with my Macbook w/ Garageband v3.0.5. I haven't used it yet, and frankly, I don't really know what I'm doing. I can't get any sound out of my electric guitar (which I'm currently plugging into my Audiogram mono line-in because I don't have an XLR cable yet). My keyboard is currently in for repair, so I can't test it out with that....

I've followed all instructions that I've found in other forums, such as making sure the Yamaha USB is set to my input and output in both GB prefs AND mac system prefs. I can't find anything in any forums or instructions that I haven't tried already...
What might I be doing wrong? I just want to rock! :)

Any help is greatly appreciated. Keep playin'.

One weird thing I'm noticing is that my volume bar for the monitor seems to be "greyed out" and stuck at zero....

Is that weird?

First off...just from looking at the device it's pretty clear that you don't need an XLR cable to plug in your guitar. You can simply plug it into the combo jack labeled L or R...they're combination XLR or TRS jacks...that's why the hole in the center is so large.

As for your computer issues...you can check in device manager and see if your system is recognizing the Audiogram as your soundcard.

I'm not familiar with Garageband, so I can't help you there.

Wow, I feel pretty dumb. Haha, I'm getting sound now that I plug my guitar into what I thought was strictly the XLR input, but now I have another problem. The BUZZING!

Why is there so much white noise / buzz no matter what effect I'm using (inc. no effect)? What can I do to reduce it? I can't record at any level that is loud enough to be worth recording with all of this white noise!

Again, any help would be great! Baby steps!
