Hi,

just landed in the forum, nice to meet you all!

Well, I'm going to buy a second hand Presonus Firebox, I would like to use my violin with effects in Ableton Live through it. My question: is it compatible with OSX 10.9.1 Mavericks? Presonus, indeed, officially declares that it isn't but maybe just to sell newest products which are officially supported by new OS.

Any suggestion? Somebody tried?

Thank you!
Sebastiano

Hi there,
Presonus have been quite good with drivers and have release notes for their universal control, listing compatible interfaces.
If the interface isn't there, I'd avoid it.
You might find someone on a forum saying it works, but it'll always be a gamble/waiting game.

There are very few advantages to Mavericks and non that I can think of which relate to audio.
I'd just reinstall Mountain Lion. I assume there are drivers for it; I haven't checked.

Apple don't offer roll-back, but it is very easy to backup/clone your drive, reinstall, then run migration assistant.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

No, Presonus Firebox does not appear in the release note.
I may add that I've already installed Mavericks and I've already downgraded it with 10.8 mountain lion. I also read that lots of interfaces (e.g tc electronic connect 6...) Are not standard-compliant with osx 10.9 and software releases stops on last osx mountain lion release..

No idea :(

You had Mavericks installed but didn't try out your interface?
Since you're currently running Mountain Lion, I recommend you just stay there. :)
