Hey guys, need help with some stuff.
my guitar is cutting through the background music, which is a good thing..
but when theres a silence part for the guitar, the background music suddenly becomes louder like say 50%.

anyway to help balance the backing track and guitar?

this situation is worsen with bass anyway.
i guess its the frequencies fighting to get out.

Is there a compressor on a mix bus? I can't figure how else the backing tracks would come up when the guitar stops.

Ahh.
its

guitar --> pedal --> pc

the pedal has a speaker emulated output so it still sounds good direct.

then after recording,
i piece them together in a cheap freeware.
the freeware has everything from echos, reverbs, high pass, and compressor.

however, i do not own a compressor pedal nor do i know how to set the compressor in the software.

recommend me some basic settings?
there's threshold, ratio and the usual comp stuff.

edt:
i found something that helped.
instead of amplifying both tracks like i always did,
i amplified none but reduced the backing track, its better now.
