hi all, ive been real busy lately trying to fix up my old pc. well ive decided to break down and get a new one built for me. anyway ive decided to go with the pentium 4 processor for sure not sure what size yet. the place im having it built at as with all the places here in town that build them swears that the audigy is the shit and there is nothing else that compares for audio. now to be honest with you i know better than this, im not saying that the audigy isnt a good card but there are better applications out there for digital audio. what im wondering is, is the audigy a decent enough card or should i just order a card because that is all they carry, i was thinking about going with the ardvark q10.
any opinions on this, maybe some of you have tried both or at least have one of these and can put some info down for me, they are saying i should go with xp as a os, im tottaly a 98 second edition user and that is what i am used to. how does sonar and the audigy or the q10 run with each platform, any problems i should know about with each? im gonna go with at least a gig or ram. my old comp is just that realy old, its a 500 mhz amd k6 in a hp with 256 m ram with a riptide audio card that is 16 bits and integrated,it has a 10 gig hardrive which i just replaced with a 60 gig because it crashed and a tnt2 graphics card. will i notice a huge difference with the things ive listed above, i mean when you mix down to cd isnt it 16 bit anyway? i know these are weird questions but i just dont wanna make a mistake and i wanna get the best i can for the money somthing i wont regret buying and i will notice a huge difference with as far as processing realtime effects goes i cant set latency below 13 wright now with riptide but i can run 5 effects at once added to the busses before it drops out which aint bad for what i have. please guys give me some opinons. ive learned that most of you on here know what your talking about and i appreciate your opinions on stuff. one more thing is there any certain motherboard that has a advantage over the other ones that i should know about, to be honest i dont think they know anything about recording digital i believe they mainly build business comps and game comps, i figured at least id get a warranty this way. thanks friends for your time. god bless flash

Do not buy the Audigy! The drivers suck and the sound-quality is not very good. Yes, the Q10 is a much better card, but it also costs 7 times more. If you want a cheap and good card and don't need many I/O's then the delta audiophile would be a good choice. Not more expensive than the audigy, but much better suited for recording.

I had an audigy myself before I bought my Delta 1010lt. The audio-quality is so much better in the delta.
