the locl sam ash near me is out of auralex glue and they just suggested to me to get spray on glue from home depot or walmart.

should i do that? if so which kind? because i dont want to destroy my walls nor do i want the auralex to fall down because it is the wrong glue for foam

please someone suggest a brand or type that i can ask home depot for.

thanks

what i did was get a big sheet of peg board, which is pretty cheap, and then used a can of the 3M Spray Adhesive to attach the foam to the peg board in 2x2' squares, then i just hammered a nail into the walll and hung the pegboard like a picture. works pretty well, haven't had an issue with the foam falling off on its own, but it releases from the pegboard without destroying itself if need be. just a suggestion...

Yep...3M. They will have a couple different cans/grades...same stuff, same size as the Auralex. The only difference is the Auralex retails at $25 while the 3M goes for 9 to 12.

yeah you can get almost 3 bottles of the 3M stuff, which is high quality stuff btw, for the price of the stupid Auralex glue. i think the one i got was 3M #77 glue. don't remember off the top of my head though.

^ Yeah.... Don't for a minute think you're getting inferior adhesive because it costs 2/3 less than the stuff sold by Auralex. This is just a good example of the mark-up applied to anything related to "musical instruments" or the "music industry"...total racket. Oh...and the $9 to $12(get the 9 dollar stuff btw)...that's the "regular" price. You can often find it or a comparable "off brand" at an even lower price.

Oh yeah...#77 sounds right.

If you don't want to destroy the walls don't glue things to them.

I buy the Auralex spray at GC for $10/can.

Just have to ask for the "deal"...

There's actually a lighter 'hold' than Scotch 77 that will work fine for foam on walls.

The advice about gluing to a board and hanging the board (not for straddling corners but foam isn't any good for that anyway) is right on the money. That's the best way to minimize wall damage issues.

Auralex has a lighter spray that isn't permanent. I used it and it has held up for a couple of years now, and comes off easily.

Yep, that's the stuff I'm talking about.

I've had some mounted to Masonite pegboard for over 3 years and it's still holding strong. Unless I want it to.

A $12.00 can of the 3M stuff got me through about 45 1' panels. use it sparingly, and spray the panel and the wall.

Pulled some off to reposition, and it did leave some foam on the wall, but it can be scrubbed off.
