attention digi002 users

can u use say, two 002 racks to expand IO on a protools le system?
 
Actually I believe I read an article in Tape Op about a guy that linked two 002rs via midi. I don't exactly remember the process and I vaugely remember the article saying it could be unstable, but never the less I think you can do it. I believe it was in the latest issue.

That technique utilizes two separate computers, each running one Digi-002. Not 2 002's on one machine.

still cheaper than an HD system.

Basically a similar concept to locking two 24 track tape machines together.
 
I wouldn't think that would be sample accurate... using just midi time code.

Not even close. But then again, synching 2 24-track's was not "phase accurate" either. Usually not a problem, as long as you don't spread stereo pairs across the 2 machines, or room mics.... that sort of thing. You don't one audio source spread across 2 machines.
