Whats up guys, this may sound childish, my my idiotic buddy is over here debating my use of the compressor. To settle this, all who know answer this very simple question. Is 1-5ms of attack considered to be a slow attack or a "fast" attack setting? Same with release, would 100ms-500ms of release be considered to be a slow or fast release setting?

less time = faster
more time = slower

(ie, here on Earth, when something is "fast" its duration of occurrence is shorter than something considered "slow"...!) ;)

Everything is relative, just as our Bear here pointed out in his inimitable way. ;) :D ( No offense, Bruce!) However, I'd consider 1-5ms to be quite fast, whereas 500ms release time is quite slow. 100ms is quite fast, though. Dammit, it's all relative. Go figure. I'm not much of help here, I guess.

It depends on what the programme material is. 500 ms release is probably pretty typical for bass guitar, but very slow for mastering.
