I really like this song, the acoustic and mandolin are great and was wondering if there'd be interest in a collaboration.

The main thing I need is a lead vocalist, buit I had this idea whereby anyone who's remotely interested could sing on a big outro....I wanted to have the one line "Meet me tonight in Atlantic City" repeated with 10-20 of you guys singing it out, like a big choir.

I was gonna do a cover of this song because i love it. Maybe i could be of some use.

If you want i will do a vocal and guitar part and you can decide which (if any) to use. it will probably be thursday before i can get round to it though, hows that for you? what other parts are you thinking of? Maybe a violin?

That'd be great! I don't wanna hijack this, you sure you don't mind collaborating on this one? Good ol' power-sharing eh?

As for instruments, I was thinking of mandolin - Anfontan plays and did his fair share of Bruce covers at one point, I'm waiting on him to get back to me. I was kinda thinking tenor banjo, but I'm not great at it! Do you play Violin?

The main thing would be whether to use drums or not.

No worries, i would love to help out on this. Lets do it in the spirit of cross border initiatives. Do you want to be Bertie or Paisley?
As for violin...i play badly so i wouldn't suggest doing it, maybe David K could if he has nothing else on, he's excellent.
Drums is a bit of a quandry... i will record my vox and guitar to a click track and that way you can decide later.

Yeah that'd be great, I think a brush loop could work...we should ask David K, I'm sending Anfontan an mp3 at the minute.

Still working on it. Vox becoming a pain in the Ass. Ended up going out on the piss tonight and getting hammered. Went to see a band called 'The answer'...think Led Zeppelin meets Black Sabbath and early Aerosmith and you got em...anyway end result is im drunk as a sailor and talking shite...I promise i will get my finger out of my hole tomorrow and get this fucker nailed. Hard as fuck actually to get it right!

Wow from the build up I was expecting something woeful, but this is good man!

Got home last night after meeting a girl that i once loved and felt like doing some screaming. Think i got a few songs out of her...probably wasn't worth the hassle though.

I will try and track it seperate later i think just so that there is more scope for mixing later, probably keep it something similar if that's ok with you.

Sounds good man. Is that in G?

I wasnt too sure what key it was in, so i did it in E minor. It would in be G for a harmonica. I have seen Springsteen do it in various keys, he usually puts a Capo on.

Well got home last night late and had a bit of a drunken blast at this. The guitar and vox were tracked at the same time to give it raw feel, also because i felt more comfortable that way. Its a bit ropey though so i will probably redo this later.

Its at the bottom of the page.

Hey Gummblefish and Paul, I added a mandolin part to the vocal and guitar that Gummblefish did-its a very rough scratch track part and the fills between verses were totally ad-libbed.
It's recorded with a set of MSH-2 mics that I recently bought, those things-and all of his products-do great on acoustic recordings....

Its called Atlantic City-w/Gumblefish in my soundclick.

Hey Tony. Those fills are frickin awesome...the rythm bits are cool but, and it might just be me, but do they make the other part sound a bit cluttered?

Beautiful mandolin there Anto! I love it. I was thinking that maybe we should retrack this. maybe do a slower version? tonight im going to record another vox and guitar take on separate tracks and to a click track. I was thinking that drums may sound great on this if used sparingly.

BTW Gumble what's the BPM on this?

No idea, i didnt use a metronome its basically just a live take, probably moves about quite a bit like the original.
