Dan Richards from the listening sessions put together a graph depicting popular mics and their placement in the color, bright, transparent, dark, continuum. I would put the baby bottle just about in the middle( or a little left of center) of this chart and the groove tube md1b to the right and down from the gt44 www.studioforums.com/6/ubb.x
then search:A graph to describe the sonic characteristics of microphones
I find it reliable and accurate

I'd go for another brand. I've been using an Audio-Technica 4033 with excellent result on voice, but when I record backup harmonies with the same mic they aren't as distinct from each other as I would like. I have read that ATs have a typical sound (my only experience is with this 4033) so rather than buy another model of AT I bought a RODE NT1000 ($350 w/separate shockmount) to give a little more distinction between tracks.
Rode NTK
KSM32
KSM44 (I've seen them new on ebay for $550)
AT4050
Baby Bottle
MC012 preamp with LOMO head
ADK
Groove Tubes
SP T-3
Marshall V77
Marshall V69
My AT4040 is top-center, so any of the other 3 quadrants would be a significant tone change.
The MXL series shown in the lower right quadrant are a significant departure. But... they have such a crappy reputation as being crummy Chinese knockoffs...
On the other hand, Harvey Gerst gave it a glowing review.
The U47 is down there too, but way out of my price
