Cyan....

Thanks for the links.

The one with the 414....yeah...thats the sound that grates on me. It's something that sounds great right away but after listening a while, I want the singer to stop it! Just too "present" I guess. I cant agree that anyone sounds like that in real life....the human body does not make that "super present" sound.

The other one....I cant judge the mic cuz the room or verb or whatever is just muddying it up. The vocal iteslf however is SWEET!!

Aa far as the "mids on fire" sound of the U87...that is a perfect description! I want one!!

There are some good things being said about the 3035 on RAP, which is unusual for such a cheap mic. Ty Ford has a review of the mic on his website also, and sait it was the 1st mic of its price range to catch his attention since the TLM-103 came along, or 1st one to make him say "wow" or someting of that nature. I think I'm gonna get one and a pair of At 3031's to go with it, since I can get a pair for $300 even. The new 30 series are actaully supposed to be the 40 series done better, they are quieter and have better tolerances, etc etc... I'm just taking a blind stab with the 3031's, but somehow I feel I wont regret it.
We'll see...

tubdude, im not surprised with those results, i had the same feelings.

that "turning" song....well, i really like it...

but, the vox don't totally stand out to me...

maybe too much reverb or something that is throwing me off..

I feel like a C1 could have gotten the same result, in that instance.

Wes, I feel different.

I have heard the c1 on female vox and it was instantly recognizeable as chinese.

no siree, no comparison.
