Peace. I just bought an MPC 2000 (been learning on a friends for a while) and an ASR-10 to start working on some small scale production. my issue is this: I only have some basic household equipment and I want to now the best way to hook this stuff up. This is what I'm working with:
ASR-10
MPC-2000
2 100MB Zip Drives and SCSI cables
Stereo Tuner (good one, paidlike $300 for it)
CD Player
Crappy Compaq with an AMD Semperon Processor running Windows XP

Any suggestion on how I can maximize my set-up (burn beats to CD, easy sample set up, etc.)? Can I hook any of this to my CPU without buying extensive interfaces? Do I need to buy anything else? I'd rather not, cuz I'm just about broke.

Thanks in advance to all the heads who look out.

Soundcard? What are you recording to? Hardware/Software? You must go from your MPC as well as your ASR-10 to some type of recording device, and ensure that the device has a cd-r burning drive (Or you may need to purchase an external one). In my opinion, you could have went without spending the money for the MPC & ASR-10 (Which is close to $3,000 new) (I think) and bought a great starters kit (Software, plug-ins, midi keyboard, soundcard, monitors) and put money in the savings account to upgrade later, all the while fine tuning your skills and getting familiar with recording, and banging out nice music! Just a suggestion!
