Can anyone help?

When I try to use vst instruments with cubase there is a lot of latency from when I hit a key on my keyboard to the sound being heard .Ive been told that its because i havent got a dedicated asio driver for my soundcard .

I went to the soundcard(Maxi Studio Isis-Guillemot) website and downloaded the latest driver for it,the problem is still there.

When I go to cubase-audio-system-I can see the driver that I need to select along with direct x driver and multi media driver but it wont load ,

does anyone know what I have to do to get the Asio driver for my soundcard to work as I have been told that this driver reduces the latency to more or less nothing.

Cheers

Hey Bro, what do you mean it won't load? Don't try to load anything while CuBase is running. Install your drivers the same way you would install anything--Control Panel, then Add/Remove programs...Probably the best way to check your system for active drivers is to use DxDiag....Assuming your system has Directx programs in it, DxDiag should also be present...do a search/find for it and put it on your desktop....drivers are funny business--not all of them are "main" drivers and therefore they may not show up readily in CuBase or in DxDiag for that matter....see my other posts here...I "think" if a driver is not a main driver, you will probably only see the last few numbers of it "attached" to the end of one of the other drivers--I have found this to be the case when I installed Win9x_12.41 for my display/graphics card. later....

Try changing your sample rate to 96khz in the cubase Audio Setup. My latency went from 61 milliseconds at 48.1 khz to 28 milliseconds at 96. 28 seems very workable. When you get your patterns down, you should be able to change it back to 48.1 or wahtever you typically record in.
