Ascap!

Got my first check from ASCAP. That felt good. Finally getting back what I put into it... lol

Took a minute to get publishing going... It's all good now... ;)
 
Nice.

I used to be a field investigator for ASCAP. That meant going to bars/clubs that had no ASCAP license and seeing if bands were doing covers or if the jukebox had a valid JLOC. It was kinda fun for awhile until ASCAP pulled back on the benefits of doing said job.
 
You can, but there really wouldn't be much of a reason to if you have nothing that's going to be published.

Ya, the song has to be published and preformed (radio, tv, clubs, live) and so on. If you make a song and put it in the ASCAP directory, it won't do any good unless it's a production that is being published major.

Let's say you made a song and a TV show wants to use it. You would sign a licence and they will make a cue sheet when it plays. You get paid each time it plays. The ammount you get each play is in your licence agreement. I didn't get it when I was starting out...

It helps if you publish it with ASCAP. It makes thing roll faster...

You can also sign up with the Harry Fox Agency. >more That's how you get album royalties... So much to do... It's nice when you get the ball rollin...

once u have a publishin company or u have your info. signed up with ascap, bmi, harry fox, etc.

how do you go about getting a tv show to even consider your music?
 
I don't worry about that...I just worry about getting my ass capped.
