Art tube MP vs Studio V3?

this is bullshit darrin...listen to the track..the bass, vocals, synths, electric, and acoustic were all recorded through a MP tube project (in fact the acoustic was through a behri mic, C3, and the mic100) then through a behri mixer in an untreated room (of course), in fact only the effects, female singing, drums, and scratching come from software...tell me what noise there is because myself and others certainly cant spot it through your "equipment of slandering" choice

your "wisdom" is generalised, opinionated, and often wrong

man you gotta remember that alot of us are dumb teenage nubes and just want something that works. we cant afford the good stuff :(

if it works as a preamp then its doing its job, although i agree that its pretty crappy for it to have alot of noise and try to sell you on the "tube", it is only 30 dollars after all.

not to mention every new piece of gear you get your hands on whether it be good or bad is a learning experience

he has based his opinion on a piece of kit that is over ten years old...he also wont buy a Ford because of his poor experiences with a Model T......

I dunno dudes. I've owned an MPA-Gold for a few years and a Pro VLA. The Pro VLA uses it's tube in the make up gain stage. I had the 12AY7 go out on me once. the output gain turned to shit.

The MPA Gold when pushed over drives like a tube. Both are ART products....my vintechs and presonus don't saturate like my "fake" tube gear.

please don't cloud this thread with personal experience ;)

both my cheap pieces of kit changed their "sound" when their tubes were replaced...it must have been magic

I do understand what he is saying. I once bought a cheap berghiner "tube" pre. it had 2 tubes in it, light up by LED's

Listen to that clown and you will end up with a $40 paperweight...thats what happened to mine.

Buy Cheap Buy twice.

Im a clown huh?

You are an opinionated idiot..and I'm not the only one here who thinks that..

You constantly blab on like everyone on a homerecording website should only be buying pro gear...well listen mate I can guarantee you that 90% of this website is made up from hobbyists..why haven't you pissed off to a prorecording website where you obviously belong rather than hang with us newbie minions?

again where's the noise on the track I posted..tell me I would love to hear from someone with your overgrown sense of importance?

and I'm the clown..freakin laughable

take it to the cave so I can slap you around some more

thats terrible...Behri make some good gear...and Behri make some shit gear..

dipshit_h200 is talking about the Art MP

Ill agree...Behringer is equally as shitty...lol...and that dbx POS that looks like the ART...WTF were they thinking.

Ohh...I get it now...lol.

Yup that'll be it...Im too cheap that's why I bought a $40 MP like you...oh hang on I didn't I bought the $120 Project..

You're about as bright as a two watt bulb...now run along before I pwn you all over this forum...again :)

To be fair, Engl also tosses LEDs behind the tubes in their amps, and no one complains about them for it - the tubes are in the circuit, doing their thing, but they just look a heck of a lot more dramatic if they light up red or purple instead of natural color.

Just because there are LEDs there doesn't mean the tubes aren't in the signal, it's certainly not without precedent to give them a LED boost for visual reasons.

please...there is no room for some common sense in this thread...why nothing in the music industry is there for aesthetic reasons...its all to do with sound quality...nothing else;)

C'mon, man, take one look at that Engl, glowing red, and PLEASE tell me you don't expect the thing to just breathe fire. I mean, it GLOWS. Of course it sounds good! :D

Darrin - I do find it a bit odd that on one hand you're criticizing cheap tube-based preamps, but in every other preamp thread I've seen you post in lately (and I've just started paying attention to the rack forum, so maybe it's not new) you've been pushing the Line6 UX8 as "the last pre any home recorder ever needs to buy." Unless they botched the amp modeling but somehow got the preamp modeling right, I have a hard time taking Line6 serious for high-quality studio work*... :/

*disclaimer, I do use a Line6 DL4 delay in my amp's FX loop, so it's not like I'm blindly anti-Line6

It seems to me that this isn't a debate about the relative merits of a particular preamp anymore...

what advice did I give?

you're the one that spews advice

"buy cheap buy twice"

"Art MPs a $40 paperweight"

"Don't have Behri in your signal chain"

"It's best to shower with other men"

that's it dude...you've said nothing else since 2001

it stopped being about pre-amps when he called me a clown for disagreeing with him...that's the strength of his argument..
