I was surprised at the price tag on shock mounts (I've never had to worry about owning one until lately.)

Are there any good sites that sell them cheap? Can they be built? I have a Soundelux U97 - @ 2" diameter condenser.

Thanks!

the cheapest ones that i've seen that are any good are around....$50.00 some of the mics come with there own shock mount.

Check e-bay. There's a guy on there who manufactures his own that look ok.

Hows it going dude, I have just the place to get them cheap. The Musicians friend distribution center has them, on front and universal down by the riverfront, close to the casinoes.

Those are fine for sdc mics but for ldc Ill want the security of something that will clamp the mic in place while suspended.

TensionMount also makes a LD adaptor called "Big Mike". I haven't tried it, but I have tried the small mic mount, and it's great.

The tensimount works very well. Simply a good product.
The other one (Universal shockmount),I would worry about. Not because it doesn't do its job in holding microphones, but because of its sonic footprint due to the large round "piece-of-pipe". Not something you'd want ANYWHERE near a large dia condenser.

I use the small tensimounts on my Oktava 012's and they're fine. They are very big but I've crammed all kinds of mics in them.

I also use the small Tensimounts. Personally I think they're a fantastic design. Simple. Effective. Useable. Who'd o' thought!
