Are there any neutral un-hyped Humbuckers out there?

I'm looking for neutral & unhyped. I've read a thousand posts about humbuckers and every one of them has pros-cons about "heavy bottom", "searing hi's", "too thin", etc

For bridge position of a Schecter. For moderate-medium hi gain, seeking clarity & definition. The response from my "Duncan Designed" whatevers I have in there now is OK but is mushing up things when playing chords. Leads I don't care about now.

I'm saving for a Telecaster but I have to make due with the Schecter for now. I'm wondering if I may be only satisfied with a single coil.

One other thing:
How about the DiMarzio EJ Custom ? See here the description

anyone tried these?

thanks

EMGs and Bartolinis are both very clean, flat response pickups. The Seymour Duncan Jazz is also a very clean pickup. I would probably suggest the Bartolinis over any of the others, as you can use them with out replacing the rest of the electronics, as you would have to do with EMGs, and the just seem more appropriate than the Jazz, which is a very low output pickup, and is designed primarily for jazz players (imagine that). Check out Bartolini's Website for more info on this great company.

You might want to talk to Lindy Fralin and see what he recommends for you. He'll make a set to your specs, if you can decide what you want.

thanks, indeed I had been looking at the Unbucker, but for some reason I dropped Fralin from my list..can't remember why at the moment. I think it may have been cost (that would be dumb). But now that you mention it the Fralin is not much more than my latest interest the Bartolinis so heck they're back on the list

The DiMarzio Air Norton is a very clean, un-hyped bridge pickup. It's about teh same output as their PAF pro, but it's EQ'ed totally differently. Not as much top and and much more clear in the mids. Almost has a percussive feel to it.

thanks for the help guys,

I've decided on the Bartolini, either the ZBS-50 or -60

thanks again

I have an Air Norton in my Ibanez RG, but I use it in the neck position. Very clean, sweet sounding pickup.

I use a Steve's Special in the bridge. You may not like that one. Way scooped mids and pretty high output. But for what I play, which is alot of prog metal, it works well.

I can get plenty of variation in tone by switching between the two, plus I've tapped the Air Norton, and can get almost a Strat tone out of it.

I love those two pickups. The pretty much give me anything I want from my guitar.

Just my .02

Peace.
