Are PRS's really worth the money???

With a PRS, the quality is there, so if you like the sound, it's worth it. My Custom 24 is very versatile (the 5 pickup settings x 2 "sweet switch" settings give you a lot of different tones) and makes a great stage guitar. Plus, it's just a beautiful looking guitar.

I managed to pick it up used for about half the going price, which makes it even more worth the price.

i really dont understand peole who buy prs they are very disapointing i was faced with a decision a couple of months back shall i get a PRS for 3000 or a nocaster telecaster and a marshall jcm 800 with a line six pod hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i wonder PRS can kiss my ass

America....

i love it people all the time get on here and rant about exhorbitant guitar prices why is that ? If people didn't pay it they wouldn't charge it . America is capitalism at it's finest if you want the cheap guitars buy them if you want the really expensive ones save and buy it but don't bemoan the cost and how stupid or crazy people are for buying them. Last time i checked it's still mostly free around here if i want to blow all MY hard earned money and someone out there wants to take it (without breaking my arm) what's it to anyone else ...I can see it now the redistribution of guitars so the unwealthy musicians can have the top models too ...lol :D

Hell Yeah!!! It's no fair that some people have 10 nice guitars and other people only have one cheap guitar! Join with my, my comrades, and we shall create guitar equality for all!

Well I don't know about your communistic guitar philosophies but that is a pretty cool chord...when played in the third fret.

Lets face it, it's all a matter of preferance. I have a friend who wont play anything but a PRS, another who wont touch it unless it has Gibson on the head, another who is a diehard Fender fan, I say if it feels right and sounds good, play it. I like giutars that have that "play me" feel reguardless of what name is attached to it, but I don't wear designer jeans either, labels don't impress me. I'm not knocking any brand of guitar, just saying finding a guitar that fits the player is more important than the name.

I've owned a PRS Custom 22 & it was an awesome guitar. To my ears PRS guitars have more of a focus on midrange. Their true sound & potential doesn't come out unless you use a high end tube amp. I've heard that they were designed to be used w. Mesa amps just as the Les Paul goes well w. a Marshall.

The sustain is incredible as well as the quality control & asthetics. In fact it was so nice I was almost afraid to play it hard. I think they are worth the $ if you plan on keeping it as a long term guitar & you have a good amp like Mesa Rectifier or Koch Multitone.

That's all I need to know for me to pass on a PRS unless one .. maybe ten were given to me for nothing. All I seem to ever hear nowdays are these songs recorded with a PRS through a Mesa.. and to be quite honest that "Sound" went stale years ago. However, PRS is huge and NUmetal still sells so it's great for the kids.. as well as the aging adults that want a PRS to help them "relate" to todays 15 year olds.

I never played my PRS with a Mesa. I hate mesas. I used mainly different Fender amps, a few Marshalls and a Vox.

I agree with you on the Mesas. I personally think they are very over priced and have a cheesy, buzzy tone. Of course, noone who owns one would agree with me that they are overpriced because they don't want to face the fact that there are better amps out there for less than half the price used.

I've never liked the Vetta. I was at the summer NAMM show where both the Vetta and the Vox Valvetronix were released to the public for the first time. The Vetta got alot of passing looks but sounded like crap, even with an awesome player in it (I forget who it was). By contrast, the Vox/Marshall room was packed around the VT amps. Even with lowly me playing through them, they sounded awesome and packed the room out. that's why I ended up buying the Vox.

I played a 513 for about an hour and I was sold on PRS. That being said, we'll see if the quality holds true with their low end SE line.
