are pop filters worth it?

A pop screen can also help get the talent to sing into the microphone from the proper distance. In general, you don't want lips on grill like many live rock and roll singers do. Position the pop screen far enough away that you don't hear the pops when that channel is soloed. Weird enough, having the talent say the word "pop" a few times will help get the correct positioning.

Couldn't agree more. Pop filters are as much a distance gauge for the singer as they are a wind screen. I use one for my self when tracking my own vocals and find it very valuable. Playing guitar and singing at the same time for years you sort of learn to hold your self up with your lips on the mic. A pop filter gives the feeling of being on the mic and keeps you at the proper distance. I can't for the life of me imagine getting away with out one on a ldc.

If you're talking about the Behringer B-2 marshall, it comes with a windscreen which is pretty effective in stopping those unwanted pop's. It takes away alot of the high frequencies though. So when I use mine I only use a pop filter.

As said above - works well as a distance object too :)
