i dunno, Nuendo was looking very tempting...

either way, there is no chance in hell i'm buying a MAC.

Another vote for Cubase SX- even though no one really asked for any votes...

Steinberg released SX for PC before the OS X version, and it requires XP. If you don't have Xp thats a bummer, but its a rock solid system if you do. I'm way impressed.

I'm also a bit flabberghasted that Apple would shake that much income from PC users. Oh, well. I can see why they would want to have a high-power multitracking program, but why not use the PC income to help develop their new product? (shrug)

I'm also glad I didn't go Logic... that really bites.

Well, as much as this whole deal sucks, with not getting any support for a $1,000 software package, it doesn't exactly FORBID present Logic PC users to continue using their software. They will probably keep releasing PC updates until September 30th, and HOPEFULLY the final Logic PC version will be good enough to hold on to for a couple of years. If it works fine, you shouldn't have to upgrade until it's really outdated... THEN you might consider switching software packages, or if you're really stuck in the Logic swamp, spend a million dollars for a Mac.

So please folks, don't panic - it doesn't HAVE to be the latest version to work... especially if you're a HOME recorder.

I hope what they say about Samplitude living on is true. I love that soft.

the name of the resulting product

given that Apple uses iTunes, and iMovies, will the resulting product of both companies be "iLogic"?

Wow, looks like Apple just sent a whole bunch of cash Steinberg's way. That crossgrade offer is smart on Steinberg's part, and they came up with it in only a day; that's quick reaction time!
