I think APL has the Neil Young voice around here.

I won't rest until y'all say, "Neil Young sounds an awful lot like apl."

Neil Young sounds an awful lot like apl....

I probably shouldn't even post...because I disagree with everyone else.

The guitar is good, but from memory of the original..it seems to need something, I can't put my ears on it, since I have not heard the original song for a long while.

Neil Young sings in a pitch/key all of his own...and even those are outta pitch/key...but that is what makes is voice unique and unmistakable. While I think APL does have a Neil Young-ish tone on a lot of songs, this recording is not a good one. The versing sounds pretty good...but the chorus just does not sit well in the song. The chorus is very strained in the and out of 'Neil' pitch....although Neil sounds out of pitch too...he sounds natural at doing it... :D

Mind you, I know that covers can be all about doing it *just as* the original...or doing it as one's own interpretation, but that is not the issue I am hearing or speaking about.

I have one of APL's C and he has a great voice...I just don't care for it on the chorus. It doesn't dohis voice or the cover of the song justice.

I listened to both mixes, and even though the first one is a bit rushed...it seems to fit better on the versing...but the chorus doesn't fit on either mix.

I am not a big Neil Young fan...but this is my favorite song he does, so maybe that is affecting my take on it....but I don't think so.

I hope I haven't hurt anyone's feelings here and if so, I apologize. That is not my intention. When I ask for an opinion from you guys, I expect an honest answer of what each of you hear personally and know that there is always that BIG and MOST LIKELY chance, I will hear some direct critic and I DO hear it...not always good ones either  . I appreciate that from you all...even if I get embarrassed or my feelings hurt. I like the honesty in this place. This is my most honest thoughts the cover.

PS...APL, I will post something soon and then you can have a shot at me...I was thinking, maybe some Yoko...? :D

Or better yet...you and I could do a *Neil-Yoko* duet. :p

Ha Ha--I got that deal of the day too-I couldn't pass up on the price! I found a weirdly cool thing about as well when I recorded a version of the Beatles 'Come Together' that Dogman and 60's Guy did the music to-I put a vocal track on it and guitar fills and a main solo.

During the main solo I held a long sustained note and it suddenly it produced a cool feedback that sounded quite like the feedback parts on the Beatles 'Helter Skelter". I must have been the tube reacting to the sustain-I LIKED IT THOUGH!!

Its called Come Together - take 2 on my soundclick :)

Sounds great...apl sounds a bit far away though
