I've done searches, but I mostly only find stuff on the 460. These mics are easy to come by because I'm in Canada. I did a search a long time ago and I found nothing, so I'm surprised to see all these posts about it now. I don't want to spend too much on a mic, and my local music store has the 415 and the 460. The 415 is about $150 CND and I'm not sure about the 460. So what are your guys thoughts on the 415?

I cant comment about the 460 (but ive heard decent recording done with that mic). Around 5 years ago, apex used to be more or less the only readily available, cheap condensor mic's in Canadian chain stores (like long and mquades). I picked a few up then, and they worked ok. Not bad, but not great. Since then, mics that cost the same or less, that sound better are available (e.g. CAD, MXL, Studio projects etc) at most chain stores. If the 415 is anything like the other 4** series i've tried, then it's probably an ok mic - but better might be available for the same cash.

I was thinking Studio Projects in the past, but it's hard for me to get certain brands, such as SP, because stores around here are pretty limited. I'm not even sure L&M would have them, even if they did, they are a ways away.

I've gotten all my SP stuff from L&M. But i hear you, it can be a pain to get ahold of this stuff. I've bought 75% of my gear on ebay because of it! Sweetwater.com ships to Canada too i think...

I think they do ship free, but the border charges can be quite hefty...
