Anyone wasting time here?

Great job on the guitar. If fits great, fills up everything it needs to and it can even fully replace the acoustic if that's what you two are wanting to do. It was making me wish there was more time for leads.

These verses are kinda long, so we could use guitar and bass to manufacture a prechorus out of the final lines of the verses. So if you end up with two different guitar parts for verses to make them feel like verse then prechorus, I will make sure the bass part matches in some way or another when I redo it.

What is the chord sequence? I'm terrible at picking them up, and don't want to submit something way out of key.

The slow intro is C, G, F

Most of it (the verses) is C, G, Am, F.

That's it until "They've conquered Russia", and that goes F, G. During his G, I started from D and progressed to G. I went DDDDEEEEFFFG then DDDDEEEEFFF Gsus4, G... in case those final two notes make you want to do C or a B. It's just Gsus4 to G.

The unexpected low drive after the first chorus is F

the end is C, F, Am, G, F then C, F, G

I was actually trying to keep from stepping on the acoustic guitar cause I think it sounds good in there too. Just let me know what you guys want to do differently, and I'll get on it :D .

Thanks, David. I'll work on some simple, distorted rythum stuff, and see if anything can go with what's been done.

Travis, I played with some drum tracks, and here is something. No flash or anything. Just plain. I messed with yours a bit, and will post a mix in a few....
Ed

Here is what I did to Travis's drums..

If you want, I can post just the drum files.
Ed

very clean, clear and natural sounding. Cymbals get a bit gongish near the end but the complete rythym section will most likely absorb it. 'lotsa skillz..

bumpity...................bump
What ever happened to this one? :D

I'm planning to get back to work on it too. I've been doing a job plus piecing together a new song.

Dogman: Your drums sound real good, Ed. The ones you played yourself would be ideal for adding into the final mix. Maybe we can work out a way to add some cymbal crashes in another track. It's good that way because the levels are more controlable.

I haven't seen any Travis activity here for a few days. I guess he started the song, so maybe he'll finish the mixdown of it?

I've also got some very simple distorted chords to put in the background. I can post em if anyone wants them. Not really distorted, just kinda dirty.

Sorry about leaving this thing hanging. I left town last weekend at the last minute to get away from the hurricane. My place has been without power for a week so I stayed with some friends in Athens, GA. Drank lots of beer, eyeballed all the fine looking girls of UGA, and saw the sites. I'm glad to be back and it's cool to see that you guys have been working on this thing.

metalhead28, the guitar sounds cool. i think that will cover the main guitar part well. i was hoping someone might want to do the acoustic intro also.

jdavidb, do you play acoustic guitar at all?

dogman, nice job with my crappy drum track. i'll upload the individual drum tracks in the morning. so if you want to give a shot at mixing them, that would be cool. i think i left the cymbals way too loud and too much bottom on the snare drum in the track that I posted.

I just had a long drive so I'm gonna chill out for the night and get back to this in morning.

Travis, here is a guitar part I did. Just simple chords, weird distortion. I put them a bit more forward in the mix for you guys to hear, but it would probably sound best, if used, buried more. I have individual tracks if you want to use them, but if not, no problem. And the weird ditty at the beginning, never mind it. I forgot to take it out.

Ed's guitar and Metalhead's guitar during verses could be used to make a verse/prechorus like the two parts thing I was talking about earlier. My first impression is that Metalhead's would sound like verses and Ed's sound like prechorus... for a way to put the two together.

Travis: yeah I play acoustic guitar too. I did that on Utopia Vaccuum and on Where I Thought I'd Be. I do not have an onboard preamp in that guitar though, so I'd have to use my German/Chinese mic, a Behringer B-2 heheheh it's good man, it really is! I think someone with a good obp on their acoustic can get a better sound than me though.

People actually recording!!!!! Novel idea!!! Splendid!!!! I love it!!!! you guys are too cool!!!! I mean it!! I think I'm teering up! Just a little. Sorry. Sorry. Anyone gotta hanky?

damn, I picked the wrong time to start a collab. just got through the hurricane and now my pc is f#$%ng up on me. i've been messing with this computer all day, trying this, trying that. either the bios would not load or the video was'nt working. i ended up smacking the tower and monitor around a bit and now it's working. :D i might have knocked some dust loose or something.

enough bitching. i'm gonna try to post the drum tracks again and hope my computer does'nt die in the process.

I can post the individual guitar track, but it will have to be after Wednesday. I am not at home until then. Then someone can put it into the mix however they want.
