I'm considering a HD upgrade before i start on my bands album. Anyone using a SSD, worth the cash, any problems etc?

Yes, they work great for speeding up some things. However, due to their high prices, many of us are only using them for the boot drive, daw software, and plugins. We have a larger spindle drive for capturing the recorded files and session storage. But then, spindle drives are plenty fast enough for that.
Worth the cash? That is for you to decide. You won't notice any difference while tracking, but booting and program execution may be quicker.
If your motherboard supports the higher speed interfaces such as sata III, I would go for that. Sata II SSD's are not that much faster than spindle drives.
SATA = 1.5 Gbit/s
SATA II = 3.0 Gbit/s
SATA III = 6.0 Gbit/s

Yeah i was just thinking for boot drive.
I wasn't referring to specific problems just wondered if anyone had experienced any when using them in an audio context.

No, none that I can recall. I did some research about cmos settings and I also learned how to verify that Trim is enabled in Win 7. That keeps the drive healthy.
The good points are, the machine responds faster and the drive is completely silent. (Some spindle drives do a lot of clicking and wining.)
I also replaced my storage drive because my old Maxtor DiamondMax clicked a lot from head movement. The new Seagate Barracuda is much more quiet now.

Oh, a few more things to consider...
Most SSD's are 2.5" (laptop size) which won't mount in a desktop drive bay without a mounting kit. Some of the ads are for the bare drive only and some include attachable side rails for mounting in 3.5" bays. Pay attention to what it includes when you order.
Also I searched for the fastest read speed I could find (given in MegaBytes per second.) The write speed was not that much of a concern for me because I don't write to the SSD drive very often.
