I just found out that my pro tools teacher at school uses a tablet as a pointing device. He is one of like 5 people in the world with all three digi 310 certifications and pretty retarded at pro tools.

Wondering if anyone else is using these? If so, what kind? Recommend one to try out?

bamboo .....mainly used for graphics but is most likely what they are using...it has real time pointing (meaning where you point on the tablet it points to the exact spot on monitor) it works as a mouse and all that fun stuff.

So it's basically like a giant notebook trackpad? I can see how that would be pretty cool. I'ma look into it!!!

I use the 12 x 12 from Wacom.

I like the absolute addressing nature of the pen/tablet interaction.

No swiping that rodent to move the pointer to the relevant portion of the screen.

yuh my bamboo is by wacom....if you gettin one it should be this brand...mainly because they seem to have no problems

Yup. Get a Wacom.

I've used Wacom tablets for various things (mostly graphics) for 8-10 years.

---I've been surprised that tablets and screen-lightpens never really became popular. They are a much more intuitive and natural way to interact with computers. Just me, I guess....

I've never actually seen someone use one as a pointing tool.. only as a drawing type thing. For constant use stuff like a mouse or trackball, aren't you picking up and putting down a pen constantly? Is there any slowdown because of this (that can ulimately be made up for with its more intuitive style)?
