I have been using an 828 Firewire with a Mac for some recording, and was thinking about bringing one home to use with my home studio setup. I really enjoy using it with a Mac, but the PC world is completely different. Just wanted to know if there are any success stories out there. :)

I'm using one with my PC Desktop and occasionally my laptop. I have been using it with SONAR and it works great. Very low latency etc.

Do you still get the Sonar pops and clicks? I am currently using a Delta card at home, and it's great with everything EXCEPT Sonar. I get pops, clicks, and occasional dropouts when in Sonar. Cool Edit Pro, N-Track, Vegas, Wavelab, Soundforge, Acid...all fine, but Sonar has issues. I was hoping maybe the 828 would fix that.

Thanks

I'm using the WDM drivers with sonar. I haven't noticed any pops or clicks with the 828. Do you have a 7200 rpm Hard drive? I get a lot of dropouts on my laptop because the hard drive is too slow.

WDM drivers, Win 2000. The PC is a screamer, and has done 20 tracks easy with comps, verbs, and automation...in OTHER programs, but not in Sonar.

Its a P3 1Ghz, 20 and 40GB 7200rpm hd's (audio drive on an ata 100/133 controller), and 512MB Ram. Like I said, other programs it is great, but Sonar, which I would like to use, sucks right now.

Doesn't SONAR require the use of MME drivers to work properly? If you haven't set it up to do so, you may want to try that.
