Anyone use boundary (PZM) mics for recording?

I was just curious... I was looking at the mic catalogs of CAD, Nady, Crown, Shure, and they all have one or two boundary mics listed. I was just wondering what applications people are using them for in recording.

(My hidden agenda... someone offered me a good deal on a used CAD boundary mic, and I'm just trying to figure out if I'll have any real use for it!)

For what it's worth, I'm generally recording full bands "live" in my studio. So theoretically I guess I could use one for a room mic, but I'm not sure what else I'd use it for.

Thanks!

In addition to room mics, they are popular on piano lids. I sold mine a while back but I might repurchase one :o

You can put them on the ceiling above a drum kit instead of traditional overheads.

You can attach it (carefully) to an acoustic guitar, or so I've been told.

FWIW The ones that Radio Shack sells are made by Crown
