anyone try this?

Anyone try vocals to a preamp, then miked amp, back to the recording device? A friend said this may give some natural compression. I think it may just induce alot of noise. Heh.

I currently go from the mic to a pre to the board.

Ive done that for weird effects before but I don't know about any natural compression.
