Anyone running Presonus Firebox on Vista 64 succesfully?

I'm totally confused and frustrated.

Presonus claims that I need a 1394 Connection in my Network Connections for Vista 64. After 90 minutes on the phone with Dell flashing BIOs, updating drivers blah, blah, we determine an App note the Microsoft no longer supports 1394 connections in Vista and higher. Soooo, my question is if you got Firebox working on Vista 64, how did you do this? All I get is a steady Red light.

I've been on that site and forum alot to no avail. Down loaded drivers for Vista 64. Personus claims my unit was defective, I've since recieved a new one and will try that. I'm skeptical as they seem to be unaware that Vista no longer supports a 1394 network connection and they keep pointing me to enabling one. After hours on the phone with Dell, the located a Microsoft appnote stating the 1394 network connections are no longer supported. I've had this post up for several days now and not one person has claimed any success with Firebox and Vista 64. So I'm not holding my breath with this new box. But we will see.
 
I heard a rumour, and it IS just a rumour that firewire gets very buggy on 64 bit systems when you have 4GB of ram or more installed...which kinda defeats the purpose of having a 64 bit system.

I know for a fact my yamaha N12 runs on xp64 with 2GB of ram but when I put 4GB in it goes all to hell and I lose the connection repeatedly. :mad:

FireWire networking is not at all relevant to an audio interface. FireWire networking is a mechanism for using FireWire to connect two computers together instead of Ethernet. It never really caught on, and MS dropped support in Vista. Pretty much nobody noticed or cared.

True... Still, I own an Inspire and I can't manage to record anything with it. After installing drivers for Vista 64-bits, I can see the input levels go up and down in the Inspire Control Panel, but it's been impossible for me to record anything with Adobe Audition (3.0 with Vista "upgrade").

I'll let anyone know if I find any answer. But I really think about going back to XP-32 bits and/or record with my Linux desktop.
 
Finally... Here's my setup:

- Vista Pro 64-bits
- Presonus Inspire 1394 with Vista 64-bits drivers installed
- ASIO4ALL (with "Always Resample 44.1kHz <-> 48kHz" option checked)
- Adobe Audition 3.0 with Vista 64-bits update

In Adobe Audition, go to:
Edit / Audio Hardware Setup

In Audio Driver, pick ASIO4ALL. The rest is standard project and track input settings.
 
Hi, I am not using Vista (thank goodness) but there have been firewire issues even in XP when using the supplied Firewire connection on the mother board.

The solution may be to install a separate firewire card, making sure that there is a driver for Vista available for that card.
