i didn't know where to post this. but since they're music is pretty synthy/electro i thought here would be the best place.

anyway, i love their stuff and wondered if anyone else did as well, and further i wanted to know if anyone knew what kind of gear they use to produce some of their sounds, or where i could start to create weird noises and samples kind of like the ones they make.
well not the same, i would never want to copy anyone...just maybe the methods of creation that they seem to have. as though they made each sound from scratch. how could i do that as well?

Never heard of them, but their website is fucking cooool!
Kinda like "myst".

haha yeah, they always have dope sites.
really i could watch that site for hours.

ok minutes.

hey any advice on my query man???

i'm looking at the korg kaoss pad.

but then there's the electribe gear.

ummmm, those are prolly 'amateur' right?

i am amateur :(

i believe the korg kaoss has been used in hollywood production houses. i don't think it's amateur.

The most common method for mangling sounds is through the use of Filters. They can be static, controlled by an oscillator, velocity controlled or changed on the fly with knobs and joysticks. When you hear a sound that has a flange or phase type of change going on that is usully a filter. A simple type of filter would be an EQ. If you play a sound and constantly change the EQ settings you will get some weird stuff going on.

So to do this you need a keyboard with a lot of filter options (many have them) or use external filters on existing sounds. The Kaos pad has filters that are controlled by your hand on the pad.

Actually the KPII even has a built in synth in it. It's really cool...
