Can't seem to find a good shockmount for the MXL993 mics. Anyone know of one?

AT shockmounts are good (8410a)

Sabra Som are pretty decent as well.

There have been some pretty creative and inspiring ones made here from pvc pieces. Functional and cheap, but you would have to search for the threads. I will see what I can dig up.

Oktava shocks work with just about all of my sdc. I think they were around $20 a pop.

The ones that are made by Apex for there small pencel condessers may work for them.

The MXL mount for the 603 (MXL-41) should work. The 603 has a 24 mm diameter and the 993 has a 22 mm diameter. My 603's fit very snugly into the MXL-41...doubtful that the 2 mm difference in diameter will make any difference.

Picked mine up from 8th Street. They had the best price I could find ($24.95).

I recently purchased two Avantone's from AAAudio. I ordered them
because they looked and turned out to be overbuilt. They are also
very repairable. The spider is very short and tight on my 604s. I
read here or on another site that the MXL mount was easily broken.
The Avantones came with an extra set of bands, but they appear
to be standard O rings available from any good hardware store. The
female threads on the bottom were cleanly done. They are very
simple but perhaps not as sexy looking as others on the market.
By the way, the tightness lets me hold the body of a 604 anywhere
along its length, permitting me to get the capsules exactly how I
want them and keep them that way no matter how the stereo bar
is angled and hangs them. He has a good picture of them on his
Ebay site. The guy was easy to work with in putting together a
nice package and excellent price. I e-mailed him about what I
wanted and for how much, and he e-mailed back a simple "Yes"
with his 800 number if I wanted to order. I had the mics, mounts,
bar, and cables via UPS within the week. He wrapped the shit out
of 'em too. Not a scratch.
