Anyone know how to do this?

I'm so sorry.
I want to set up a track in Acid 6.0 with a VSTi on it. In real time, I want to record the audio output of that VSTi onto an audio track. Is this possible?

i usually know questions not dealing with midi.

is vsti midi?

why real time? you probably can export it as a new audio track right after you record.

you may have a lot of tracks to do this with...so what is the ultimate goal? why the convert?

Yeah, VSTi instruments are controlled via midi. What I'm doing is running a few things together under the Acid umbrella so to speak. I've got my Korg Mono/Poly going and it's synched to Acid via a click track coming out of Acid, and I'm recording the audio from that. Anyway, the real issue is my Moog Modular VSTi. I want to run that (synched to the tempo map in Acid) along with other things. Yeah, I could just setup a sequence on the Moog via a midi note, but when I render that track down, it doesn't keep any moves I make on the Moog like real time filter adjustments and so forth. Furthermore, the automation between Acid and the Moog plug in don't work all that well. I'd love to be able to just do what I want on the Moog in real time, and just record the audio as I do it. This will help also because when I'm done, I can just save the audio and take off the Moog to save CPU.

can you just out from the moog with trs instead of midi? just record as audio instead of midi.

what does the midi have that has its advantage over audio? esp in acid.

i believe the midi notes aren't well edited with acid.

hmm...so do you hear it live as you are recording?

as in...out the moog from your computer into some audio channels.

so in a sense you would record three tracks at the same time.

6.0 would let you do it i think.

hmmm...that could be a new feature for 7.0 or 6.1...

being able to record enable a midi bus to a new track.

Yeah, I don't think you can do it directly within Acid. I think you're right. I think the only way would be to do just that and run audio out and back in to an audio track.

well ... you can sort of do it ... but it's makeshift ...
Method 1) Insert your VSTi, insert a midi track, and set it to run through your VSTi (it will detault to microsoft midi something). Then hit record on the midi track and it will record all of the notes you play. Once you've got it the way you want, mute everything except the midi track + your VSTi and render to a new audio track.

Method 2) You can insert FX directly onto the VSTi bus that pops up when you insert the VSTi - but it will introduce a bunch of latency (esp for reverb).
